Combining traditional craftsmanship with modern design, materials and manufacturing methods, we create equipment for security, medical, military and specialist professional users in the UK and around the world.
What Sets Us Apart
50 Years of Excellence
Made In Britain
Our products are designed and manufactured at our UK facility in Somerset, where traditional skills work alongside modern production techniques. More than 99% of the Price Western product range is produced in the UK, giving us close control over design, materials, manufacturing and quality. It also gives us something equally important: flexibility. Whether developing an existing product, responding to a new operational requirement or creating something completely bespoke, having design and production working closely together allows us to respond quickly and effectively.
Built Around the People Who Use Our Products
The best equipment begins with understanding how it will actually be used. Over the past 50 years, Price Western has worked with professionals across police, security, military, medical and other specialist sectors. Their requirements have helped shape the products we manufacture and the way we approach new product development. That experience allows our team to combine proven designs with new ideas, materials and manufacturing techniques to create practical equipment for demanding working environments.
Craftsmanship
Our roots are in traditional leather craftsmanship, and those principles of care, precision and attention to detail continue throughout the business today. Materials and manufacturing methods have changed, but our commitment to producing equipment to a consistently high standard has not.
Innovation
Professional equipment needs to evolve as quickly as the people and technology it supports. Our design and manufacturing teams continually develop existing products and explore new materials, construction methods and solutions to meet changing requirements. Innovation at Price Western isn't about change for the sake of it. It's about making products work better for the people who depend on them.
Flexibility
Not every customer needs the same solution. Our flexible manufacturing capabilities allow us to work across established product ranges, customised products and OEM projects, from initial ideas and prototypes through to full production. We can work from an existing design, a physical product or a completely new requirement, bringing together design expertise, material knowledge and manufacturing experience to develop the right solution.
Quality You Can Depend On
Quality has been at the heart of Price Western since 1976. Our approach combines experienced people, carefully selected materials, established manufacturing processes and continual improvement. This commitment extends beyond the products themselves. Through recognised quality and environmental management standards, responsible manufacturing practices and continued investment in our systems and people, we aim to maintain the standards our customers expect from Price Western.
Our Heritage
A Brief History
Where It Began
Price Western was founded in 1976 by Don Price in the South West of England, with a clear aim that still guides the business today: to produce goods of the very highest quality. The company initially made leather kits and belts for sports shooting enthusiasts and professional users, before expanding into leather gun holsters.
Its early competition range included the Clam Shell Competition Holster, a design that remains popular today. As the range developed, Price Western began attracting attention beyond the sporting market, with professional marksmen from the police, military and VIP protection sectors recognising the quality, reliability and performance of its specialist leather equipment and helping shape the company’s future direction.
Police Range
During the 1980s, Price Western’s police equipment range began attracting growing demand from mainland Europe and the United States. New distributor relationships were established in Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands, helping the company build an international customer base that continues today. At the same time, Price Western strengthened its relationship with UK police forces, including sponsorship of the Police Amateur Athletic Practical Pistol Team.
Feedback from serving professionals played an important role in product development, helping refine the company’s sports shooting equipment as well as its covert, specialist and leather hip holsters. This close relationship with end users helped establish an approach that remains central to Price Western: designing equipment around the practical needs of professionals.
Diversification
The 1990s brought a period of diversification, with synthetic materials introduced alongside Price Western’s established leather ranges. These new materials created opportunities to develop more affordable holsters, pouches and equipment holders, while also allowing the company to explore entirely new product categories. This included load-carrying vests for police and security personnel and customised medic vests designed to give paramedics greater carrying capacity, flexibility and comfort.
These ranges continued to evolve with high-visibility options and configurable pockets and pouches. The decade also demonstrated Price Western’s ability to apply its materials expertise beyond its traditional markets, using its knowledge of leather, construction and design to develop new products while continuing to strengthen its core professional equipment ranges.
Modernisation
The new millennium saw Price Western continue to develop under the principles of quality, experience and innovation. Investment in materials, manufacturing and product design helped the company respond to the changing requirements of police, security and other professional users. Its commitment to quality and responsible manufacturing was reinforced through ISO 9001 approval and ISO 14001 environmental certification.
Improved global connectivity and international shipping also helped Price Western reach customers around the world, from Europe and the Middle East to Asia, Australia and the United States. Attendance at major industry exhibitions, including Milipol Paris and Milipol Qatar, supported this growth, while the company’s understanding of materials and demanding working environments remained central to product performance and development.
