Sustainability at Price Western
Striving For Net Zero
Our Mission
Designed to last. Working towards net zero.
At Price Western, sustainability starts with the decisions we make every day: how we design our products, the materials we choose and the way we run our factory. Our equipment must perform reliably in demanding environments. We believe making it durable is one of the most practical ways to use resources responsibly.
We are also working to reduce the carbon emissions from our operations. Our goal is to cut emissions by 50% by 2030, against our original benchmark, and to work towards operational net zero by 2050. There is more to do, but we are measuring our progress and making changes across the business.
Sustainability built into the design process
Our Green Design Principles guide how we develop new products and improve existing ones. We design for durability and longevity, so products can remain in service for longer. We also look for ways to avoid unnecessary production steps and waste, assess materials and suppliers for sustainability, and reduce the use of hazardous chemicals where possible.
Where a design allows, we reuse existing components, tools and manufacturing processes. Smaller products, including pouches, can also form part of larger systems such as tactical vests. This approach helps us meet each customer’s specification while considering the resources needed to make the finished product.
Reducing the impact of our factory
We are looking closely at how energy is used across our manufacturing site. Heat recovery equipment has been installed to capture heat generated by cutting machinery and use it to warm other parts of the factory. Its purpose is to reduce our reliance on gas heating during the colder months.
We have also switched to 100% renewable electricity and reduced the miles travelled by staff. In our published 2023 progress report, our measured emissions were 43.8% lower than our original benchmark, a reduction of 19,931 kg CO₂e. This is an encouraging milestone on our journey towards our 2030 reduction goal.
Measuring progress and taking responsibility
Alongside reducing emissions from our activities, we have supported carbon offsetting. In July 2024, we received a certificate through Carbon Neutral Britain for offsetting 25.43 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. We report this separately from the reductions achieved within our own operations.
Our approach will continue to develop as we assess our footprint, improve our processes and explore better ways to design and manufacture. We will share meaningful updates on our progress as we work towards a more sustainable future for Price Western and the customers we serve.
