Doculus Lumus
Doculus Lumus® is a compact document examination device designed for rapid frontline checks. Combining 15x or 22x magnification with incident, UV and rotating oblique illumination, it helps professionals inspect security features, reveal fine details and perform RFID quick checks.
Description
Doculus Lumus® is a compact professional document examination device developed with serving police officers. Designed for use at borders, airports, railway stations, roadside control points and other frontline locations, it allows potentially fraudulent documents to be examined quickly without relying on an office or laboratory.
The colour-true, distortion-free glass lens system provides either 15x or 22x magnification across an inspection area of more than 2cm, shielded from external light. Four high-powered incident-light LEDs, four 365nm UV LEDs and eight automatically rotating oblique-light LEDs help reveal fine print, UV nano-features, raised elements, paper fibres and colour-changing holograms.
An RFID quick-check function supports the examination of e-passport transponders, including Type A and Type B formats. Steady illumination allows findings to be photographed using a smartphone or tablet without requiring a separate app.
The robust, pocket-sized housing is drop-resistant from heights of up to 1.5 metres. Large controls can be operated while wearing gloves, and selectable right- or left-handed modes improve ease of use. Powered by two standard or rechargeable AAA batteries, the device provides approximately three to five months of battery life and shuts down automatically after one minute to conserve power.
